Thinking about a wish, 14-year-old Robert knew he wanted to explore the natural world. With his love for sciences, hiking and the outdoors, his one true wish was to travel to Australia and take part in its many adventures. In remission with myeloid leukemia, it was the perfect time to send him on this voyage. Robert wanted to “let exploration provide entertainment,” and that’s exactly what kind of experience our volunteers had in store for him!
Snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef and visiting the reptile center at Alice Springs were Robert’s favorite activities from his adventurous 10-day trip. He also went on a guided walk around Ayers Rock, and sightseeing in Sydney to places such as the Opera House and Sydney Harbor House. The excitement of these activities was amplified with his mother and older brother by his side. Not only did this trip fulfill Robert’s wish, but it also brought his family even closer, he said.
“Without all your hard work, it would have been impossible for us to experience Australia. It was always Robert’s dream!” the Grozl family wrote to our Make-A-Wish volunteers. Thank you for granting wishes like Roberts!
