Mya was eleven when she was granted her wish to go to the Australian Olympics to watch runner Marion Jones win gold. While there, she had the opportunity to meet and talk with her role model Marion and wore her gold medal. Marion was Mya’s encouraging symbol of strength during her fight with leukemia. Now at 26, Mya is an active member of the foundation and stands as a national spokesperson for Make-A-Wish®. This gives her the opportunity to travel and share her stories of the magical experience she had. This past year, as operations director for the Michael Phelps Foundation, she attended the Olympics and met with many Make-A-Wish kids and explained her journey and how her life has changed since her wish came true.
