Binghamton, NY—Six-year-old Dallas Mielke-Bresee, of Cortland County, is set to be the Honorary Wish Kid at the April 30th Walk/Run for Wishes at Binghamton University. Dallas’ wish to meet his favorite superheroes and Disney characters was granted two years ago during a trip to Walt Disney World® Resort and Universal Studios.
Dallas will officially kick off the 5K walk and run event, which is hosted by the university’s Wishmakers® on Campus Club in conjunction with Alpha Phi Omega and Kappa Sigma. Proceeds support Make-A-Wish® Central New York and the children it serves throughout the Southern Tier and beyond.
Beginning and ending in the East Gym Parking Lot (Lot E), the 5K cross-country course winds its way through the scenic B.U. campus. The theme of the event is “Every Wish Kid Needs a Hero” and participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite superhero character.
Registration is $15 per person and begins at 12:45 p.m.; the walk/run begins promptly at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. Participants should note that the course is not ideal for strollers or pets, and the run is not a chip-timed event.
T-shirts will be available at the event but only while supplies last.

Make-A-Wish Central New York is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to granting the special wishes of children living with life-threatening medical conditions. More than just nice gestures, wishes provide the child and family with a bit of respite, and infuse hope, strength and joy into a difficult life experience.
Make-A-Wish® is able to continue to share the power of a wish thanks to the generous support of student groups like the Binghamton Wishmakers on Campus, as well as individuals and businesses throughout its 15-county region, which includes Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Otsego, St. Lawrence, Tioga and Tompkins counties.
