Syracuse, NY—Make-A-Wish Central New York and the Syracuse University Men’s Basketball Team are preparing for the 24th annual Ms. Orange Fan® Luncheon, which takes place Sunday, October 11, 2015 at The Oncenter in Syracuse.
This ladies-only, fan favorite event features an opportunity to dine and interact with the team and coaching staff, get autographs and photos, enjoy Otto the Orange, the Sour Sitrus Society and the SU cheerleading and dance teams, and participate in Silent auction, basket raffles, and more.
How it started
Twenty-four years ago, S.U. Men’s Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim envisioned a Make-A-Wish® benefit that would involve his team and a very important audience: Ms. Orange Fans. The idea was to bring two powerful wish-granting communities together to benefit children from the Central New York area living with life-threatening medical conditions.
How it works
The event features an autograph session with players and coaches, followed by Wish Kids escorting the players and coaching staff to a runway, where attendees place bids for the opportunity to have a player or coach join their table for lunch. A silent auction, basket raffle, and merchandise sales, also take place during the event.
Tailgating in The Oncenter parking garage begins at 9:00 a.m. featuring food beverage, music and more. Doors open at 10:00 a.m. and the luncheon begins at 10:30. Tickets are $70 per person and must be purchased in advance. This event sells out every year so be sure to reserve your seat! Reservations are required by Oct. 3. For more information or to make a reservation, call (315) 475-WISH (9474) or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
