DURHAMVILLE, N.Y.— In January, 15-year-old Wish Kid Gracie Snyder, of Durhamville, got her one true wish – to meet the “Cake Boss.”
Gracie, who is living with a brain tumor, has a passion for baking and wished to meet Buddy Valastro, star of the hit TLC show “Cake Boss.” Gracie’s wish came true when Make-A-Wish® Central New York sent her and her mother to New Jersey for a fun-filled weekend that included a visit to Carlo’s Bakery and cake decorating with Valastro. With a little help, Gracie created a softball-themed cake that impressed Valastro and the bakery staff.
Gracie’s mother, Michelle McNichol, said the experience taught Gracie a great deal and will help her as she continues to grow as a baker.
“Gracie wants to be a pastry chef and has been watching [Valastro] since the fourth grade,” she said. “Buddy was so impressed with her cake, that he told her to come back if she ever wanted a job.”
