Boy Scout gives back to Make-A-Wish® Central New York for Eagle Scout Project

EAST SYRACUSE, N.Y. – It is no easy task to become an Eagle Scout, a position to which many boy scouts aspire. To be eligible, scouts must amass 21 or more badges, write essays, get recommendations, and finally complete a service project to be considered. North Syracuse Boy Scout Brennan Carman of Troop 203 in Liverpool chose to commit himself to the process and, for his service project, is designing and installing a Wish Pond for Make-A-Wish® Central New York.Brennan Eagle Scout Project

Brennan first became familiar with Make-A-Wish Central New York in 2006, when his brother Patrick got his wish to go to Disney World.

“My brother and I have been seeking out ways to assist this organization ever-since. I want to make this very special for them. No organization could be more worthy,” Brennan said.

His vision is to build a small pond, a trickling waterfall, rocks around the edge, with some solar lights around the pond and plants around the area. “This is to be a soothing place of calm and reflection for all who work or visit there,” he said on his fundraising page.

In order to complete this plan, Brennan has been responsible for orchestrating the entire project. He set up frequent meetings with Make-A-Wish®, enlisted the assistance of a local landscape architect and electrician, and garnered donations for stone and other materials.

“I wanted to make this wish come true for people who dedicate their lives to granting others’ wishes,” he said.
