August 25, 2015— In July, 17-year-old Cameron Vedder, of Cincinnatus, experienced a wish come true.
Cameron, who has cystic fibrosis, traveled to Venice, Italy with his family for an unforgettable adventure in “the floating city.” While there, Cameron visited Doge’s Palace and St. Mark’s Cathedral, experienced a gondola ride, and went on an excursion to the Dolomites mountain range for breathtaking views of snow-covered peaks. The trip culminated with a sailing trip to Murano, Burano and Torcello.
Cameron’s mother Stacy Martin said the experience was an unforgettable trip of a lifetime.
“It was a chance for us to just be,” she said. “I enjoyed watching him (experience it).”
Cameron’s wish was made possible through the generosity of Jewelers for Children, a charity founded in 1999 by the U.S. jewelry industry with a mission of helping children in need. Jewelers for Children connects nearly 3,400 companies that have collectively donated more than $46 million to programs benefitting children affected by illness, abuse, or neglect. In fiscal year 2015, Jewelers for Children will donate approximately $750,000 to Make-A-Wish® America to help make wishes come true.
A post-wish celebration was held for Cameron and his family at Littman Jewelers in Destiny USA, Syracuse. Littman Jewelers is a subsidiary of Fred Meyer Jewelers, one of the largest jewelers in America. With an emphasis on customer service and giving back to the community, Littman supports a variety of charities, including Jewelers for Children.
