CHITTENANGO, N.Y. (May 12, 2015)—In April, 17-year-old Michaela Boswell, of Chittenango, experienced a wish come true.
Michaela, who has clear cell carcinoma, traveled to Australia with her family for an unforgettable adventure in “the land down under.” While there, Michaela learned how to surf and had a private tour of the Australia Zoo, which is owned by the family of “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin. The journey ended with a hot air balloon ride over the Gold Coast.
Michaela’s wish was made possible through the generosity of Jewelers for Children. Founded in 1999 by the U.S. jewelry industry with the mission of helping children in need, Jewelers for Children connects nearly 3,400 companies who have collectively donated more than $46 million to programs benefiting children affected by illness, abuse, or neglect. In fiscal year 2015, Jewelers for Children will donate approximately $750,000 to Make-A-Wish America to help make wishes come true.
