Cleveland, N.Y.—Thirteen-year-old Rachelle Johnston, of Cleveland, NY, is a water park aficionado. When Make-A-Wish
Central New York presented her with the opportunity to choose her one true wish, she didn’t hesitate - she was headed to the largest water park in the country.
In August, Rachelle and her family traveled to Wisconsin Dells, Wis., to play and splash in “the water park capital of the world.” In addition to water rides, Rachelle also got to experience roller coasters and other amusement rides, ziplining, horseback riding, laser tag, and cosmic bowling.
Rachelle’s wish marks the 1,600th for Make-A-Wish Central New York, a nonprofit that has been granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions since 1985. More than just nice gestures, wishes provide the child and family with a bit of respite, and infuse hope, strength and joy into a difficult life experience.
Make-A-Wish® continues to share the power of a wish® thanks to the generous support of business and individuals throughout its 15-county region, which includes Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Otsego, St. Lawrence, Tioga and Tompkins counties.
