27th annual ‘Onondaga Beverage Make-A-Wish® Open’ a great success
Event nets nearly $35,000 to help grant wishes to local children
Syracuse, N.Y. – Make-A-Wish® Central New York is pleased to announce that its 27th Annual Onondaga Beverage Make-A-Wish Golf Tournament, held June 2nd at the Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse, netted $34,385 in support of the organization.This year’s event was held in honor of Wish Kid Jordan Jardine of Owego.
Golfers played 18 holes while helping make wishes come true for children in Central New York. Participants were divided into two divisions: the Best Ball Division and the Scramble Division. Winners of each division are as follows:
- 1st place for the Best Ball Division went to Darren Petragnani, Eric Smithers, Mark Adkins and Jeff Peterson.
- 1st place for the Scramble Division for Men went to Mike May, David May, Ryan May, Kyle Krickovich and Andrew O’Bryan.
- 1st place for the Scramble Division for Ladies went to Lauren Felice, Charlene Schmidt, Winnie Schleider and Gloria Barbano-Weyl.
- 1st place for the Scramble Division for Mixed went to Dan Walding, Steve DiMarco, Emily DiMarco and Chris DiMarco.
In addition to the round of golf, participants were given a chance to enter the Long Drive and Closest to the Pin contests. For the Long Drive, the Men’s Division winner was Andrew O’Bryan and the Ladies Division winner was Laurie Albanese. For the Closest to the Pin contest, the winner for the Men’s Division was Chris Smith and the Ladies Division winner was Char Schmidt.
Incorporated in 1985, Make-A-Wish Central New York, Inc. is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to granting special wishes to children between the ages of 2-1/2 and 18 who are living with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The chapter has granted nearly 1500 wishes since its inception. In granting a favorite wish, Make-A-Wish® strives to provide the wish child and family with extra-special memories of joy and laughter. A wish offers a welcome respite - a time for nothing but fun.
Make-A-Wish is able to continue bringing “the magic of a wish” thanks to the generous support of individuals and corporations throughout its 15-county region, which includes Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Otsego, St. Lawrence, Tioga and Tompkins counties.
