Syracuse, N.Y. – Most people avoid storms, but not local Wish Kid Nick. Nick will follow his favorite T.V. personality, Reed Timmer from Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers, on April 6, 2013 to Oklahoma City and set off on an exciting 4-day storm chasing adventure with Viper Tours!
Weather is more than just a nice small-talk topic for Nick, it is his passion. Nick is 15 years old and is diagnosed with Von Hippel Lindaeu. He likes ‘70s music, brownie sundaes and science; especially, meteorology. In his spare time, he loves nothing better than to track the weather; so, it’s no wonder Nick wished to chase down storms with Timmer. “We cannot wait to hear what electrifying stories Nick will have when he comes back,” said Diane Kuppermann, Make-A-Wish Central New York, President and CEO.
Nick’s wish announcement occurred on live TV at his local news station WKTV in Utica, New York. Nick and his friend Bill Kardas, WKTV’s meteorologist know each other well. Nick wakes up at 5:00 a.m. every morning and e-mails Bill about the weather and works on his weather map before school. He also forecasts the weather for his school every morning as part of the school announcements. This amazing storm chaser adventure is a wish come true for Nick.
