Syracuse, N.Y. –
Central New York is pleased to announce that they have been chosen as an Inaugural Charity Partner for the Boilermaker Road Race and will offer 50 runners another chance to participate in the 2013 Boilermaker Road Race as part of the race’s inaugural charity bib program.
Runners must commit to raising a minimum of $500 in support of Make-A-Wish Central New York to claim one of the 50 bibs available and add meaning to their miles. Bibs may be used for either the 15K or 5K race.
Registration opens on Monday March 18 at Noon. For more information on how to register through Make-A-Wish Central New York, visit the organization’s website at www.cny.wish.org.
This year’s 15K Boilermaker Road Race, which takes place in Utica, NY on July 14, 2013, sold out in record time, reaching its 14,000 capacity in just three days. The charity bib program is a great way for locked out runners to get back in the race and participate in this year’s sold out race. The program also adds to the race’s elite status by making it the first 15K in the country to add a charity running partner program.
“We are so honored that Make-A-Wish has been chosen as a charity partner with such a well know and sought after 15K road race. In addition, we know that many people who were locked out of the race are going to be thrilled with the opportunity to run the race and to raise money that will be used to grant magical wishes,” said Diane Kuppermann, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Central New York.
As part of its partnership, Make-A-Wish Central New York is also funding a new $1,000 scholarship to be awarded to one Utica area high school senior or recent graduate who has demonstrated a commitment to serving the community. In addition, Make-A-Wish Central New York will award a $1,000 prize to one male and one female runner who raise the most funds for the organization.
